This week, I have strolled down memory lane to view a really, great interactive book for young learners - 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt'. Written by Michael Rosen and illustrated by Helen Oxenbury, this illustrated children's book is hard to beat. Winner of the 1989 Smarties Book Prize and also the 2011 Mumsnet Best Book Award, this lively A4 horizontal format book presents very fluid watercolour technique as well as controlled graphite sketches. The actionable family characters walk through the varying weather conditions together - enjoying the experience and the sounds that accompany such an outing. While reading, children are able to enjoy the sounds by pressing the right hand side bar of the book, where they can physically hear the sounds the characters have enjoyed, while on their outing. Onomatopoeia words are scattered throughout the book for contextual use learning and font remains large for easy reading. This is definitely a book for any young child's bookcase.
